Unless required by your insurance company, a doctor's referral is not required
When scheduling an appointment, pre-payment is required at the time of booking your appointment. You will be issued a receipt after your appointment is completed, which you can then submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
Our clinic does treat individuals who have been involved in motor vehicle or workplace injuries. However, we currently do not have a provider contract with these agencies. If you would like to become a patient in our clinic for any of these types of injuries, our services would be covered by your private insurance.
The services we provide are not medical services, which means that the services provided by our clinic are not covered by provincial health care. If you have private insurance, please check with your provider to determine if you have coverage for Osteopathic therapy.
Osteopathic therapy is covered by most insurance companies, however, each policy may have slightly different reimbursement structures. You can check your insurance coverage to see if you have coverage. We are also able to bill under massage therapy, however, you would have to call our office to discuss this option.
Our clinic operates by appointment only. If you would like to get in touch to see what appointment times would be available you can CONNECT here.
The answer to this is: Education and Training.
Osteopathic training in Canada requires a pre-requisite education in a manual health therapy designation such as physiotherapy, athletic therapy, massage therapy or kinesiology.
Osteopathy is a distinct profession which requires an additional 4-5 years of in-person training, supervised clinical hours and a clinical research component.
In addition to this training I have additional training in neurodevelopmental therapy, developmental kinesiology and applied functional science, as well as other certifications which can be viewed on My Bio.
My training allows me to not only focus on the individual parts of the body, but more importantly allows me to have an in-depth understanding of how the various parts of the body function together as a whole (biomechanical, neurological, behavioural, physiological and functional). This highly specialized level of education and training allows me to use an individualized approach to identify the underlying cause of your concerns, instead of simply treating symptoms.
There is a high demand for Osteopathic therapy, currently, there are only a small handful of Qualified Osteopaths in Saskatchewan.
